Heritage
Isometric Puzzle Game (Mobile)
Overview
Heritage is a mobile isometric puzzle game developed to digitally preserve a historic farm building in Staphorst. The project combined 3D scanning, cultural documentation, and interactive gameplay to create an educational experience for children.
The goal was to translate real-world heritage into an accessible, playful learning environment.

Challenge
The main challenge was bridging accurate historical preservation with child-friendly gameplay.
-
Converting real-world 3D scans into optimized, game-ready assets.
-
Maintaining historical accuracy while simplifying interaction.
-
Designing puzzles that educate without feeling instructional.
-
Managing scope and coordination as project lead within an 8-week timeframe.
Approach
As Project Lead and Lead Programmer, I structured both production and technical implementation:
-
Coordinated scanning and reference collection on-site at the building.
-
Helped translate scanned data into optimized 3D models for Unity.
-
Designed an isometric puzzle framework based on authentic household objects.
-
Implemented core interaction systems and puzzle logic.
-
Structured gameplay progression to introduce historical elements gradually.
-
Balanced clarity, readability, and educational value for a younger audience.
Results
The scanned architectural data was successfully converted into optimized, interactive Unity assets suitable for mobile.
The isometric puzzle system allowed historical objects to function as gameplay mechanics without compromising clarity or performance.
The digital version preserved key structural elements of the original building.
